Ceramic or screen printed fired-in glass in toughened form is the most popular and durable.  Screen printing provides the most versatility with regard to original designs on glass, as a one-off screen is produced through which the paint is applied prior to being fired onto the surface of the glass. 

Back painted glass is also available in annealed and laminated forms. 

This is becoming more popular in domestic applications such as glass splashbacks in kitchens and cladding on bathroom walls.
