When did you start working for SGP?
Since the start – 2003 – Myself and my brother own the company so we have been here since the beginning.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
There’s never a dull moment, meeting the challenges of customer demands.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Growing the company from a cold start business in 2003 to its current position.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
Hopefully still the boss, of an even more successful team and business.
Jonathan Taylor

What is your job title and role at SGP?
Managing Director.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since day one of the doors opening – 2003

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The smooth/good days when things go well first time.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Being part of the office team and helping to develop SGP on a daily basis.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
All been well still the MD, and doing similar work but on a higher scale.
Simon Weller
Operations Director
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Operations Director.
My role varies on a day to day basis, I review working practices, keep employees motivated and make sure safety regulations are followed, along with reviewing and approving equipment needed.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2012

What do you like most about working for SGP?
I am driven by the opportunities for growth in the business and in creating initiatives to continually improve the efficiency and service of SGP.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Building a successful and flexible team in an organised and productive environment.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
Head of a lean factory that will offer the best glass processing, quality, innovation and customer service in the UK. My aim would be for SGP to be the No.1 supplier of specialist glass products with a strong reputation and a highly efficient, motivated and respected team.
Rebecca Mason-Grummitt

What is your job title and role at SGP?
Office Manager.

When did you start working for SGP?
September 2005

What do you like most about working for SGP?
It keeps me on my toes, there is always something new to learn or a tricky enquiry which has to be unravelled which is exciting as no day is ever the same.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Becoming office manager, I have grown within the company, starting off as an office assistant on order entry and learning all areas of the business.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I see myself in 3 years in my current role, but with more experience and knowledge about the industry. I hope I can learn more about different areas of the business so when we expand I can help people further.
Andrew Whittaker
Production Manager
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Production Manager.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2003, I am one of the original team members, I have worked with Andrew Taylor previous to this role.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The turnaround of the orders from helping customers achieve what they want by pointing them in the right direction to our excellent drawing team to then tracking the production of the order through to delivery.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Becoming Production Manager, going from shop floor to working my way up to managing a team full of people has been a great achievement.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I hope in my current role, with more experience under my belt and a larger team to manage and help.
Peter Walsh
Production Manager
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Production Manager.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since July 2015, I have been in the glass industry a long time, my previous job was highly automated so could be a little tedious, SGP is far from boring which is what I love.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The people are great and the atmosphere is really warm and friendly which is important in a close working team.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Managing the production of some large work orders and making sure the lead times were met.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I am new to the company so I would like to settle in my job and become the best I can along with delivering new ideas. I would love to learn more aspects of the business and maybe in the future have even more responsibility.
Michael McCabe
Assistant Production Manager
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Assistant Production Manager.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2006, after college I started on the shop floor and enjoyed it, I was then given the opportunity to progress, which has developed my skills and knowledge.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
Each day brings new challenges, seeing final projects complete and knowing the customer is happy with the service and products we have supplied, the team members/ good working environment is a bonus too.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
From starting on the shop floor to learning each area of the business. Progressing into the office, learning the drawing side of CNC (CNC programming) to where I am now would be my biggest achievement.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I am quite new to my current role and I am still learning new things, I would love to carry on adapting my knowledge and be able to be more hands on in all area.
Lauren Wilks

Order entry supervisor.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2008

What do you like most about working for SGP?
I love working for Specialist Glass Products, we’re a friendly team who are all supportive towards each other, were like a little family. Every day is a new challenge which I love. The job differs each days which is exciting and it broadens my knowledge of the glass industry. I love seeing all the amazing pictures of the jobs we have supplied the glass for especially when I have had an input in making it happen.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
My biggest achievement so far is pushing myself to show my potential in order to becoming supervisor of the SGP team. Watching the company grow over the years has been a learning curve for me and I am excited to see what the future brings and all the new amazing opportunity it offers it staff old and new.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I would like to expand my knowledge of the glass industry within the costing side. As I love to learn new things and the estimating side of things is something I enjoy but not had chance to do much off, it would be a great being able to help our customers in providing them with costing’s for the new jobs, potential jobs in the future and current ones.

Accounts administrator.

Since the start – 2003

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The team are lovely, we all work together like a family and crack on when things need to be done.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Dealing with the pension scheme, I deal with all our staffing, payments, wages and new structures so doing it on a larger scale and having to learn something new myself was a challenge.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
In current role but dealing with more staff as hopefully the business will grow.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2004, I am part of the original team and have grown with SGP over the last 10 years.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
Communicating with all our customer and suppliers, I like to help people and see tasks completed.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Helping the company grow and expand along with developing my knowledge within the industry.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I thoroughly enjoy my job and look forward to welcoming new customers and staff as we grow further.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
SGP allows me to show my strengths in working quickly on the orders and problem solving with customers and their specifications. I am a self-motivated person so my role is really well suited to me.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Learning about the different types of glass, services and products, seemed really technical to start with but the team are so helpful they talked me through all the orders I didn’t understand and I love it as each day is different.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I would like to learn all aspect of the company and see what other areas I could potentially grow in or what  weaknesses I could strengthen.
Sarah Evans

What is your job title and role at SGP?
Order entry & estimating assistant.
I have learnt every aspect of the business from office assistant to learning the products and now pricing.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2008

What do you like most about working for SGP?
I love working for Specialist Glass Products, we are a friendly and self-motivating team who manage to get stuck in at all times whether we are at our busiest period or generating new business.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
My biggest achievement so far is learning the pricing for each product and service we offer. I have learnt what products we offer and what services we can do like the back of my hand. The business has grown so much from when it was established and I have too.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I would like to expand my knowledge of the glass industry and our competitors in order to keep our pricing structure spot on. I would like to visit other plants and maybe learn more about the process we use to make the different products we do.
Anna Whitelegg
Estimating Assistant
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Estimating Assistant. My main role is to deal with quotes and enquiries to give prices back to customers old and new.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since July 2015 – previous to this I worked for my family business then for a financial company for 4 years and most recent was another glass company for 4 months. I applied for SGP because I was already in the industry and loved it but I wanted more responsibility.

What do you like most about working for SGP?
Friendly and helpful team. Happy working atmosphere and it’s also 2 minutes from home.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
None so far, apart from getting the job to work here ☺

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
Learning more about the industry and growing with the team.
Karen Drury
Office Assistant
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Office assistant, mostly helping with the accounts side of things rather than order and quote but I do help out with all areas

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2014

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The loyalty, most of the staff have been here a long time which says a lot about a company. I was temping in a few different positions before SGP, and none of them gave me the challenges SGP does.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
My biggest achievement so far at SGP is learning all the different codes for the products and services we offer. Learning the invoicing techniques and checking over orders to make sure all are ok with customers.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I would like to develop my knowledge more in the accounts department and ordering process. I enjoy these areas more and feel they are better suited to my current skills. I would also like to keep expanding my knowledge within the glass process and about the different products and services we can offer.
David Middleton
Sales Executive
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Sales executive.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2012

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The daily challenges and the people, no day is the same.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
Helping the company to grow over the last 3 year, bringing new customers to SGP and keeping a good relationship between new and old customers for future business.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
Increase my product knowledge and learn about new services within the industry over time.
Jamie Shaw
Production Engineer
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Production engineer.
My role is to use CAD software to draw up the glass specification provided by the customers for both flat and curved glass in either PDF or template formats, to ensure the paper work is suitable for production on the shop floor.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2008

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The opportunity to progress through the company with the correct attitude and work mentality.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
My progression from the shop floor to an office position and gaining responsibility with in the company.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
In the next 3 years I will have a much greater experience in the role I currently operate in and I’ll aim to progress again, with the company growing each year new roles and opportunities can follow and I’d hope to be considered in the future.
Bartosz Wzorek
Production Engineer
What is your job title and role at SGP?
Production engineer.
My main role involves using CAD/CAM software and inputting data from drawings and templates into the software so we can then transfer the drawing to the machines on the shop floor for production.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2013

What do you like most about working for SGP?
I have great respect for Specialist Glass Products as I have always wanted to work with the best in the business. At the same time, I have friends in the industry who have told me about the company’s ethics for employees and how SGP create a great environment for rewarding innovation.  I think my proactive style fits really well here – especially in my particular role.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
I would say my biggest achievement is managing multiple projects under pressure and within a certain time-frame. I do feel though, that my biggest accomplishment is yet to come.

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
My goal right now is to become the best I can in my current role and then grow and take on new challenges. I would like to become more involved in SGP product management and develop my knowledge further within the whole glass industry.
Nicky McAllister

Production Scheduling Assistant.

When did you start working for SGP?
Since 2013

What do you like most about working for SGP?
The atmosphere and the people, from the customers to everyone that works here, there is not one person that wouldn’t help you if you were stuck. It’s a pleasure working with them.

What has been your biggest working achievement so far at SGP?
My biggest achievement is learning about glass manufacturing along with production with SGP, operations and managing my role at our busiest periods to ensure all our lead times are met. 

Where do you see yourself within the company in the next 3 years?
I want to stay in my current role as I really enjoy it, it keeps me busy and it’s never the same repetitive things so I am constantly learning new tasks and ways to do my work.
